Lodgify Product Updates: Guest Registration Made Easy

With high season just around the corner for many hosts, what new updates do we have in store to help you manage your busiest months?

While hosts in high-compliance markets like Spain, Italy, and Portugal will appreciate our brand-new Guest Registration feature, that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Keep reading to hear all about our new website customization options, downloadable financial report, and more.

Simplify compliance with Lodgify Guest Registration

Manage vacation rentals in a region with mandatory guest reporting? Lodgify’s new Guest Registration feature is here to help!

Using this feature, you can streamline the whole process of guest reporting from beginning to end. Guest Registration collects guest information during online check-in and automatically sends it to the appropriate local authorities—no manual data entry or paperwork necessary.

What else can you expect?

  • Integration with your Lodgify account (no need for third-party tools)
  • Compliance monitoring to keep you up to date with the most recent local regulations
  • Quick and easy setup since Guest Registration automatically syncs with your bookings and properties

Further customize your website experience

Last month, we announced some new customization options for our external booking widget. Now, we’re excited to share the same options for Lodgify-built websites!

Within the Settings section of our website builder, you’ll now see a brand-new Display preferences page that lets you show or hide the:

  • Rental prices on the All Properties and Rentals pages
  • Location dropdown in the search bar on the Homepage and All Properties pages
  • Guest breakdown in the search bar on the Homepage, All Properties pages, and during checkout

These options are designed to give you even more control over your website so you can provide your ideal user experience.

Download financial details for your bookings

Wish you had access to better financial details for your reservations? Thanks to our new report, now you do!

We’ve introduced a new CSV report that provides a complete breakdown of booking financials in one place, including:

  • Room rates
  • Taxes, add-ons, and promotions
  • Cancellation fees

You can access data for both confirmed and cancelled reservations with checkout dates starting from January 1, 2024, simplifying your accounting, reporting, and owner statements.

To generate the report, click Generate CSV. A filter slider will open. The only required filter is departure date, which determines the booking period included in the report, but additional filters (such as Rentals, Booking status, and Booking source) help refine the data further.

Note: For bookings through third-party platforms cancelled before March 8, 2025, the cancellation fee might not be 100% accurate. We’re actively working on a solution.

Generate more accurate guest invoices for cancelled reservations

No one can escape cancelled bookings from time to time. From now on, invoices generated for them will only reflect the applicable cancellation fee—not the full booking amount. This ensures your records stay clean and your guests are billed appropriately.

Need to update an existing invoice?

If an invoice was already generated using the full reservation amount, it won’t update automatically. You can easily fix this by heading to the Invoicing section on the Reservation details page. Select Regenerate from the actions menu and the invoice will update to reflect the correct cancellation fee.

Take advantage of these messaging system updates

We’ve also made a few small but impactful improvements to our messaging system.

Smarter thread ordering in the Unified Inbox

First up: We’ve improved how threads are sorted. Before, the Unified Inbox prioritized unread messages, then last updated, which often caused old, unread threads to stay stuck at the top.

Now, threads are always ordered by the most recent activity, making it easier for you to follow conversations—just like in most messaging apps.

New WhatsApp button for easier messaging

Prefer to message your guests through WhatsApp? We’ve just made it even easier to do so by adding a WhatsApp icon in the Guest section. Simply click this icon to contact your guests!

Clearer handling of automatic responses

Previously, automatic responses to the account or rental contact appeared as if they were sent by the guest. If you replied, the message would go directly to the guest, causing some confusion.

Now, these messages appear as sent by Lodgify. Replies go to a no-reply address, so you won’t mistakenly contact the guest.

Note: This change only affects custom and automatic responses sent to account or rental contacts. You can still reply to new message notifications as you do today.

Updated footers for automatic responses

We’ve updated the footer used in automatic responses sent to guests who book on third-party channels. Previously, we used the same footer across all channels, which sometimes included personal information not allowed by external booking platforms, causing message delivery failures.

Messages for these platforms now use a dedicated footer that complies with their guidelines, ensuring all messages are delivered successfully.

FYI: we’ve redirected custom domains

We’ve recently improved how Lodgify handles custom domains: All websites are now automatically redirected from the “www” version to the non “www” version (also called the “naked domain”). This change enhances consistency, SEO performance, and long-term scalability.

What does this mean for you? A 301 redirect has been applied, so Google will now index your non “www” domain instead. But don’t worry—all SEO value is preserved and transferred correctly!

To make sure everything runs smoothly:

  • Republish your website if your last update was before February 17.
  • Update your Google Search Console settings to track and request indexing for your non “www” domain.
